Inside Project M: Building the Mantide

What do you get when you mix the American muscle of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with the imagination of a New York-born Italian race car designer? You get the Mantide (pronounced MAN-tih-day), the super car built from the ground up and in partial secrecy during the Inside Project M campaign.

Jason Castriota, the brains behind the $2,000,000 super-car teamed up with bespoke Italian car maker Stile Bertone to develop the über-sexy Mantide. This wasn’t Jason’s first attempt at high-end sports car design world. He’s known for taking part in designing the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano and the Maserati GranTurismo. In addition, he was the lead designer for the Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina and the Ferrari 612 Kappa. A pretty impressive resume to say the least.

Mantide Specifications :

Aimed to be the worlds fastest, street legal performance car, the Mantide builds upon the 2009 Corvette ZR1 V8 engine with some significant improvements. The overall weight has been reduced by over 200 pounds and boasts some Le Man style engineering which makes for one bad-ass car. Here are some additional specs:

  • Engine: 6.2L V8
  • Horsepower: 638 hp
  • Torque: 604 lb/ft
  • Weight: 3,331 pounds
  • 0-60 mph: 3.2 seconds
  • Top Speed: 217 mph

  1. Not crazy about the black wheels – unless the car was black. That would work. Otherwise, when can I expect one to be delivered? 🙂

  2. I think for a cool $2M you could probably get whatever kind of wheels you wanted…at least I would hope so! I think they’re taking order now so just give Jason a call – I’m sure he’d love to hear from you. But, do it fast – I think they’re only making 10 of them.
