Look for another contest in THE FATHER LIFE soon!
If you ask us, The Trouble With Boys is a pretty big book. We’ve already featured a podcast with the author, Peg Tyre, as well as an interview. But that’s not enough. We’re certain you want to get a copy of The Trouble With Boys in your hands. So certain, in fact, that we’re giving them away.
That’s right, we’ve got a stack of Peg Tyre’s books here waiting for you. I can’t tell you how many, but it’s not an unlimited supply. Here’s how this works: to be eligible, all you have to do is comment on this story. At random, we’ll select a few of the lucky commentors to receive copies of The Trouble With Boys, courtesy of The Father Life. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, November 26th. If you don’t win, well, go ahead and buy the book anyway! It’s well worth it. Good luck!

After listening to the podcast and reading the interview this seems like a very worthwhile book to read. Peg has a keen eye and wise mind.
I would love a copy of this book to read. I am a former education major, now mom to 1 boy (and 1 girl) and a homeschooler. Very interested in this topic!
I work daily with children, most of them boys because I myself am one, and am finding that there is a new development that has been happening in the last 20 years with boys. Peg is one of many soruces I have used in my work with them because I see that these boys grow up battling not only themsleves and their perceptions of themselves, but battling those societal pressures that are more present than ever and are able to be broken. I see that I had that oppurutnity when I was little, I am 24, and i try to help these guys with their transisitions now. This resource will be not only a part of my professional library but my personal one as well!
As a new father of a 2 week old son, my first, I was pleased to read this interview. For a number of years it has appeared to me that boys were not being allowed to be boys. This loss of natural actions and reactions has started this generation of boys down a namby-pamby road at best.
Thank you for pointing out the obsurdity of no game of Tag in school. This is indicative, I feel, of the dumbing down of America. The reason there are school yard activities and games is to promote active self-reasoning and self-organization which will be required in adulthood.
I look forward to reading the rest of Ms. Tyre’s book.
I would love to read this book, and I’d appreciate a free copy! Our country is in trouble, and it seems this book may hold some answer to that trouble. None of us can fix all the problems alone, but working together we can make life better for everyone. I drive a school bus and try to understand the kids, especially the boys that are difficult to deal with. Please count me in as an interested party!
I am a father of 3 year old triplets, and my son is older (by a minute) then his younger sisters. He often reminds us of this fact and he is attempting to show his dominance to his sisters with the understandable concern of my wife and I. Don’t get me wrong, he is a great little boy, but I think this book would give us the insight to putting out “fires” before they erupt and still allow my Son to reach his full potential without pushing my wife’s buttons! Thanks for the consideration of the free book.
I would love a copy of this book, although my son, Chase, now 11 weeks today, hasn’t been that bad, as far as babies go, and as far as what I expected (horrible things). Sure he’s been sick, had most of the common baby things that has kept me up at night and made me fall asleep while giving him the bottle, only to wake myself up suddenly and bang my head against the wall, look over at the clock and realize that only 30 seconds has passed.
Chase is my first child and the first kid out of all my friends. With this book, I can educate my friends and family. Did I mention I would love a FREE copy of this book?
I am a stay at home father to a 6 year old boy and a 4 year old girl. My days are filled with lots of volunteer opportunities at both the school level and in the community working with elementary aged kids, particularity boys. I have read many books about this aged kids to learn and understand more about them, and would love to add this one to my read list.
i’m the father of 2 awesome kids. i work and when i get home they are in bed. so i spend my mornings with them, reading, playing and having our breakfasts. then i take them to school. i wouldn’t trade it for anything. i would love a copy of this book.
Hello
I have twin 9 year old boys. Raising twin boys in this modern world and trying to keep them both on a straight path to a sucessful life is a lot of work. Infomation from places like thefatherlife.com and various current books on the market are a great aid in raising boys. I may not agree with some school’s decision’s on issues like the school playground restrictions, and I would fight those type of decisions if they came to our school, but I appreciate receiving information on what is happening ‘out there’. The book ‘The Trouble with Boys’ would be a great addition to any Dad’s library.
Thanks for the opportunity thefatherlife.com!

As a father to two little boys, I enjoyed both this article and podcast. My wife and I, both, desire to understand how to allow them to grow successfully and I love the chance at a free copy. If not I’ll buy it because I feel it would be worth it.
What? Boys, trouble? Nah! 😉 As a father of a very strong-willed one, I could use as much advice as I can get. Thanks for the chance to get this!
I’m convinced we have a generation of young adults with no meaningful parenting skills. As a family therapist I’m always looking for books to recommend to my clients. I’d love to have a copy. Thanks for the chance to win one.
Still struggling as a parent…jeez I thought it would get easier…alas I was mistaken. This really sounds like a good read especially since my son is now buldozing through his teenage years as an over anxious and very zealous 14 year old – would love the book free or otherwise…
Oh my gosh, I would love to win this book! I am on the waiting list at the library for this and there is a huge wait! I am scared as heck to send my son to school, he is almost 3, and very active. I couldn’t imagine sending him to a school that doesn’t have programs geared towards boys to keep them interested in school. They have to get their energy out with recess and other methods and to hear that schools are cutting them and expecting them to sit in class longer is just hurting them. Thanks for the podcast, it was great…can’t wait to read the book and hopefully win!
I know this is a little late, but thank you again for this giveaway and letting me win one of the books! I can’t wait to get it and start reading!
Just a quick note to say thanks for the book, my wife and I are reading it together and comparing notes and planning our next strategy move with our 3 year old son. Good to have some sound judgment and advice that this books brings. After we are done, if anyone want’s to borrow it, just let me know. Thanks again and take care.
