FRIDAY ROUND-UP: Alltop, Education, Ugly Sons + At Home Dads

Happy Halloween, guys! Here’s our weekly round-up of the best new fathering-related news on the web… Enjoy the day, trick-or-treating with the kids, and have a great weekend! -TFL

First of all, we are happy to announce that THE FATHER LIFE is now listed on ALLTOP! Yes, we know, we’re kind of a big deal (we’re not being presumptuous, that’s what the badge from Alltop says).

Driving home the importance of U.S. education reform, a new report out from THE EDUCATION TRUST shows that “among industrialized nations, the United States is the only country in which today’s young people are less likely than their parents to have earned a high school diploma.” Scary. That would be a reminder to vote on Tuesday, folks.

Ever feel like talking to your toddler and getting them to do something is like talking to a tree? Check out GET YOUR KIDS TO LISTEN TO YOU USING KEYWORDS from TheDadJam.com. For those of you who already do this, you know it works; for those of you to whom this is new – it will be a godsend.

A new study from the University of St. Andrews in England suggests that ATTRACTIVE DADS MAKE UGLY SONS, BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS… That’s sad, but good luck guys!

And, finally, the Chicago Tribune reports that MORE DADS MAKE HOME THEIR DOMAIN. “This is a calculation more men are making. Thirty-seven percent of working fathers say they would leave their jobs to look after their kids if they felt they could swing it financially, according to an annual poll by CareerBuilder. The number of stay-at-home dads has more than doubled since 1999, according to the U.S. Census Bureau… Women’s pay progress is a big driver in the change.”
