Looking for a relatively affordable family vehicle with a luxury badge? Mercedes-Benz will introduce the 2010 GLK next month (that’s right, a 2010 car available in January 2009!) with a starting price under $35k. That makes the compact crossover more than $5k less expensive than BMW’s X3. Interested in more? Check out this Edmunds test drive.
Audi‘s fast car is getting… faster. The 2009 R8 5.2 RSI Quattro adds two cylinders, moving to a V10 that cranks out 525 h.p. When it makes its US debut at the Detroit auto show next month, they’ll release the US pricing for the supercar. The price on the continent is 142,000 euros.
Tesla Motors delivered its 100th Roadster this week. The $109,000 all-electric, zero emissions speed machine is in high demand. Right now, they’re built at a rate of 15/day at a factory in England. With a nine-month waiting list, Tesla hopes to double production by spring and is planning a 2011 launch of a US-built four-door, five-passenger luxury electric sedan priced in the mid fifties. Can I have the first one?
If I can’t get the first Tesla sedan, maybe I can take the last Mercury Sable. Just months after Ford Motor Company resurrected the venerable Sable and Ford Taurus badges for their mid-size sedans, it’s been announced that the Sable and the Taurus X SUV will be axed in 2009. Expect the last of each model to roll off the line sometime this spring.

Hmmm… Can we do a giveaway of one of these? Now, that’d be cool! -B
