I think there's something to be said about teaching our kids (of any age) to follow through once they've made a commitment. Of course, modeling this ourselves is the key to making it successful as they get to be teens and young adults. I hold my son accountable for commitments he's made and he holds me accountable as well. At six years of age, I consider him to be much more mature than I ever was at sixteen. Here's hoping that it'll last.

I agree with what you said about how each situation requires different and thoughtful consideration. Being a parent requires much thinking on our feet and creating new solutions to situations that might keep coming up since what worked the first time might not work a second, or third.

By the way, who'd you take on the ski trip?

Korfmacher's theory is perfectly logical and elegant. I wonder if poop jokes occur in every culture, or only ones like ours where at least some shame is cast upon bodily functions. I wonder if there are other cultures where poop is not related to shame. I'll bet somebody has a good evolutionary explanation for the poop/shame connection--probably has to do with encouraging proper waste management. Can you make some more calls please?

Pricecheckah is better than RedLaser. It uses the great RedLaser barcode scanner, but gives you results from Amazon, eBay, walmart, overstock, buy.com as well as Google. It even let's you put in your own stores.

And at only 99c.

Thank you for writing this. My Husband is not the biological father of my first 2 daughters and when we decided to try for a baby together we experienced 3 miscarriages together before we carried to term and added another beautiful girl to our family. The journey was terrible. Pregnancy, which in the past had been a wonderful time for me was a nine month anxiety attack. Glad for our baby, but definately the end of the baby road for us. I am so grateful that we have her. Still sad for the 3 that we lost.

I think you addressed this beautifully. Thanks for the perspective and the advice. Congratulations on your babies.

I agree whole heartedly that there are issues everywhere in the government. My first thoughts about a year ago when I started to think about this were "Where do we start?" and "How do we make a difference?". One day I stumbled upon this site: http://www.fixcongressfirst.org/ and they have great material and seem to have some semblance of action and not just someone making noise. They realize there are issues everywhere but that we need to focus on one problem - the one that seems to be the core and then we can focus on the others. I just thought I'd pass that on to you.

Upromise is amazing! I am currently doing seminars on upromise, If you make it a priority to check the website for specials and plan ahead (make your travel reservations, send Mom flowers through the linked online stores, make your grocery shopping list with participating brands, go to your local resteraunts that give you between 4-8 percent back it adds up fast.) I suggest doing you research and really looking into all of the info. If you don't use credit cards that's o.k. too, just link all of your grocery store savings cards, and your debit card. The money saved can pay down a school loan, can be invested into a college savings account, or you can even just get a check. What a great concept!

If anybody would like any more tips on how to save more through Upromise, I would be happy to help.
In times like this, Upromise is a breath of fresh air!

For what it's worth, I'm understanding that the book is about parenting, not a parenting book. I doubt Alex and Simon are trying to replace Dr. Spock... as you said that's pretty ludicrous. Even if they are different and slightly controversial (so funny how being unorthodox these days qualifies one as controversial), they are the most honest people on that Bravo show. I'm sure the book is just going to give us more of that raw honesty.
