[REVIEW] WOOHOOO!! Buckaroo!!

By Anhtuan Doventry • Aug 2nd, 2010 • Category: Entertainment

I’ve said in the past that Toy Story 3 + Anything = Awesome. This week, I put the Milton Bradley game, Buckaroo, to the test. To help me, I enlisted my trusty examiners, also known as my wife, my eight year old daughter and six year old son. So on a Sunday night, we pealed off the shrink wrap and started evaluating the game based on the fiercely loyal and lovable character, Bullseye.

After reading only the title of Josh Kilmer-Purcell’s new book, The Bucolic Plague: From Drag Queen to Goat Farmer, I knew I had to read it. While the only thing I know about goat farming I learned on a tour of the Surfing Goat Dairy (www.surfinggoatdairy.com) on Maui, I was intrigued. How does one go [...]

[REVIEW] Toy Story 3 + Anything = Awesome, But What About Yahtzee?

[REVIEW] Toy Story 3 + Anything = Awesome, But What About Yahtzee?

By Anhtuan Doventry • Jun 24th, 2010 • Category: Entertainment

The biggest thing going on at our house right now is Toy Story 3. My son turned six last week, and it has been Toy Story mania. After a weekend of the 3D movie, toys, books, and a Toy Story Lego themed birthday, Yahtzee Jr for Toy Story 3 showed up on our door step. Within the hour, we sat down to play the game. Let me preface that this is my first encounter with Yahtzee. I’ve always known it was a dice game, but never knew the intricacies of the rules. My wife and Wikipedia.org filled me in on the original version for a frame of reference.

[BOOK REVIEW] The Unnamed

By Chris Weber • Apr 27th, 2010 • Category: Entertainment

Joshua Ferris is a gifted author. His ability to enrapture my attention for the entirety of the novel is mark enough of that talent, but to also have me think about life, love, and the existence of the soul while in the midst of a conversation about Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a glimpse into [...]
