Hey RJ, Nice article, you hit a raw nerve when you talked about your dad being present. My dad is still around but he is not present in my life. How would you deal with a dad that has modestly furnished you with material things yet has no idea of the person I am (I'm 45).
Don't get me wrong I had a good eduaction (albeit sent to boarding school for 8 years because my parents thought I wouyd get pushed off a city train!) and when it comes to gift giving, it is always cash, for me, my wife and kids. This to me says we don't know you and couldn't be bothered to find out.
